Green Energy Storage (GES) is a Dutch developer and operator of large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Founded in 2017, the company develops, constructs, and manages battery storage projects that improve grid flexibility, support the energy transition, and enable renewable energy utilization. GES handles the full project lifecycle from site assessment, permitting, and construction through to grid connection and ongoing asset management.
As of 2026, GES operates or is constructing approximately 300 MW of battery capacity across nine installations in the Netherlands, with a further 4,000 MWh in development. Its portfolio includes significant projects such as Sequoia (200 MW / 800 MWh in Oosterhout), BECC, Enerstroom, and Greenport Venlo, positioned at strategic locations to relieve network congestion and stabilize the electricity grid. In July 2026, Dutch logistics company Vopak completed acquisition of a majority stake in GES.
